MISSION AND VISION
IMAJ Community Improvement is dedicated to providing housing and comprehensive support to migrants, ensuring they have access to essential resources and services offered by the city. Our mission is to guide and support migrants as they transition smoothly into their new environment, helping them thrive within the community.
Our long-term vision is to assist migrants from the ground up, beginning with immigration support and extending to independent business development. We strive for a future where every migrant not only finds a home but also achieves economic independence and contributes to the vibrancy and diversity of our community.
History And INSPIRATION
Founded in June 2023, IMAJ Community Improvement emerged in response to the sudden influx of migrants and the pressing need for shelter and job opportunities. Witnessing the struggles faced by new arrivals, we felt compelled to take action. We currently assist 30 migrants, providing housing and helping them navigate available city resources.
Target AUDIENCE
Our organization primarily serves migrants from the African diaspora, offering housing,
resources, and support to individuals and families from various African countries. As we
grow, we aim to extend our services to other migrant communities, creating an inclusive
environment where all migrants can thrive.
Leadership and TEAM
IMAJ Community Improvement is led by Amara Konteh, who has over a decade of
experience as a Construction Project Manager and Property Manager. Amara’s expertise
in managing complex projects and properties is instrumental in addressing the housing
needs of our migrant community.
The inspiration behind IMAJ Community Improvement is rooted in personal experience. Growing up as one of eleven children to an immigrant mother, I experienced the
challenges of adapting to a new country. Thanks to community support, we persevered. This drives my passion for community improvement and the founding of this organization, ensuring that no one has to face their challenges alone
